St Teresa of Avila

Fearsome old battle-axe or joy filled advocate?

St Teresa of Avila, Pray for us

  1. Wow ... she looks frightening. Our priest mentioned her in the sermon on Sunday when she fell off her cart and said to God "If this is the way You treat your friends, it's no wonder You have so few!"

I've been praying for something for a long time now. Do you think if I pray to her she'll put in a good word for me with God?

I hope you're keeping well Father. I haven't commented here for a while, but I do visit often and read a few posts all in one go.

    God bless.

  2. They say that this image is the most accurate of the actual woman. If memory serves me well this was painted within decades of her death. To be fair, she is often described as something of beauty and this image probably reflects her well travelled and aged face.

As for her prayers - well pray to St Joseph. Teresa was a great advocate of St Joseph and when she was away from her convent (which was quite often) she'd leave a statue of the saint on her Abbess chair and remind the nuns that Joseph sees all and reports all! She also said that you had to ask St Joseph for anything you need but the prayer must be before midday and he would always answer your prayers! Give it a go and let us know how successful your petition is.

  3. Thanx Father. I'll try St Joseph.

For obvious reasons, I can't write here in open forum.

    God bless.
