Lord, hear the prayers of Your martyr Blase.
Give us the joy of Your peace in this life
and help us to gain the happiness that will never end.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,
who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. +Amen.
The priest or deacon places the candles around the throat of whoever seeks the blessing, using the formula: "Through the intercession of Saint Blaise, bishop and martyr, may God deliver you free from every disease of the throat, and from every other disease. In the name of the Father and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit. R. Amen."
